Compare two products before you buy either one
To compare two products with AI, paste facts from their pages and what you need the product to do. Decide from that comparison, and check the pages yourself. The guide does not invent prices.
Next step: do Step 1. Copy the box, fill in the blanks, and paste it into the chat.
A prompt is the message you paste. A Director check is a short look before you use the result.
What you'll need
- Two specific products, with the names and the pages you have open
- The price each page shows today, including shipping if you can see it
- Your must-haves (size, a feature, a deadline, a budget you already set)
Step 1: State the job before the brand
Help me choose between two products. Use only the facts I paste. Do not invent prices, ratings, awards, or specs. If a spec is missing, write "not listed."
What I need it to do: [job]
Must-haves: [list]
Budget I already set: [amount or "none"]
Date I checked: [today]
Product A: [name]
Price I see: [price]
Facts from the page:
[paste specs]
Product B: [name]
Price I see: [price]
Facts from the page:
[paste specs]
Give me:
1. A table: must-have | A | B | which meets it
2. A difference that would matter for my job, and one that is just marketing
3. What I should verify on the page before I pay (return window, size, compatibility)
Do not tell me "people love it."
Step 2: Verify one row on each page
Open both pages. Check the row you care about most. If the chat smoothed a spec ("lasts all day") into a number, put the page's wording back.
Step 3: Decide in one sentence
Write the sentence yourself: "I'm choosing A because it meets [must-have], and I can live without [the thing B had]." If you can't finish the sentence, you don't have a must-have yet. Name one and rerun step 1.
Director check: look before you use it
- Is every price the one on your screen today? Pages change. Don't buy from the chat's memory.
- Did a spec appear that neither page listed? Treat it as unknown until you see it.
- Are you comparing the same thing? A kit and a single item, or two different sizes, will look like a bargain when they aren't.
- Do you know the return window from the seller's page, not from the chat? Check that before you pay.
One extra tip
On your phone, ask Meta AI in WhatsApp or Instagram to repeat your decision sentence in one line. Then check that line against the two pages you still have open. If Meta AI added a claim, ignore the claim.
If the price is a bigger spend, put it into Make a monthly budget before you buy. More home guides are on Life.
Common questions
Can AI tell me which product is better?
It can line up the facts you paste and check them against what you said you need. "Better" depends on those needs. It should not invent reviews, awards, or prices.
Should I paste the whole product page?
Paste the specs and the price you see today, plus the two or three things you care about. Note the date, because prices and stock change.
What about fake reviews?
Don't ask the chat to summarize star ratings from memory. If reviews matter, read a few yourself on the store page and paste only the complaints that show up more than once.
