Health plans guides for everyday tasks

How do you compare health plans with AI? To compare health plans with AI, paste the Summary of Benefits and Coverage or the Annual Notice of Change and ask for plain English that quotes it. Add a quiet year, a normal year, and a rough year using only numbers from that document. AI cannot see the current doctor network or drug list. You confirm both with the plan. For Medicare, SHIP counseling is free. For the Marketplace, start at HealthCare.gov or your state's official site.

Next step: open Compare health plans with AI before you enroll and do Step 1.

All of the moves are on Become an AI Director.

Which guide should I open first?

Start with Compare health plans with AI before you enroll. You bring this year's document, not a memory of last year's copays. The chat translates. You check the directory and the drug list, then you decide.

What should you know before you start?

The calendars are different. Medicare.gov says Open Enrollment is October 15 to December 7, with changes effective January 1 if the plan gets your request by December 7. HealthCare.gov says that starting November 1 you can apply for 2027 coverage, December 15 is the last day for coverage that can start January 1, and Open Enrollment ends January 15. A job plan uses the date on your employer's notice. If your state runs its own Marketplace, use that official site. HealthCare.gov says Oregon residents use ExploreHealthOR.gov for 2027 coverage.

HealthCare.gov says insurance companies and job-based plans must give you a Summary of Benefits and Coverage and a Uniform Glossary. Medicare says a plan you are already in sends an Annual Notice of Change each fall. Paste those pages. Ask for a quote, then plain English. If a cost is not in the paste, it is not a cost yet.

A quiet year, a normal year, and a rough year are lists you write from your own life or from a coverage example printed in the SBC. They are not a prediction that you will get sick. Premium times 12 is arithmetic. The out-of-pocket limit is a cap in the document, not a forecast. Doctors and drugs get checked on the plan's directory, on the formulary, and for Medicare on Medicare.gov/plan-compare. A chat cannot see those lists. SHIP (shiphelp.org) is free Medicare help, and Medicare.gov says it is not connected to an insurance company.

Common questions

These are the questions people ask before they open a guide.

Can AI choose a health plan for me?

No. It can line up words and dollars from a document you paste. You choose. This is not insurance advice and not medical advice.

Can it see if my doctor takes the plan?

No. Ask the office or check the plan's directory. For Medicare, Medicare.gov also says to ask your doctors and pharmacies if they are in network, and to compare plans at Medicare.gov/plan-compare.

Which dates do I use?

Use the dates for the program you are actually in. Medicare fall Open Enrollment, a job's benefits window, and HealthCare.gov's Marketplace dates are not the same calendar. A state Marketplace can have its own site.

What should I not paste?

Your Medicare number, Social Security number, member ID, and a photo of the card. Plan names and cost tables are enough.
